Medford Man Arrested on Weapons Charges, Motor Vehicle Infractions and Numerous Outstanding Warrants

Massachusetts State Police Media Release–032215–State Police Arrest Medford Man on Weapons Charges, Motor Vehicle Infractions and Numerous Outstanding Warrants


Yesterday evening, Trooper Timothy Burns, assigned to the H-Troop Community Action Team, was monitoring traffic on Alford Street in the Charlestown section of Boston.  At approximately 4:15p.m., his attention was drawn to a white 2002 Nissan Sentra which was improperly inspected.  Trooper Burns stopped the vehicle, and discovered that the operator, who after initially providing the trooper with a false name was later identified as GERMAN HERNANDEZ, 27, of Medford, MA did not have a valid license.  He was placed under arrest, and subsequent to an investigation by Trooper Burns, a fully-loaded 32 caliber Smith and Wesson revolver was recovered from inside the vehicle.  Trooper Burns later verified that the serial number of this firearm had been removed and that there were numerous outstanding warrants for HERNANDEZ.  Hernandez is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow in the Charlestown Division of the Boston Municipal Court.  He is charged with the following:


Unlicensed Possession of a Firearm

Possession of a Firearm with Altered/Defaced Serial Number

Providing False Name to a Police Officer

Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle

Fail to Inspect a Motor Vehicle

Warrant – Bylaw Violation

Warrant – Carrying a Dangerous Weapon

Warrant – Disorderly Conduct

Warrant – Aggravated Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
