State Police Clear Plane After Unfounded Threat

Massachusetts State Police troopers and canine units at Logan Airport earlier tonight swept a Jet Blue aircraft that returned to a Terminal C gate after the airline received a threat to the plane’s security.

The sweep of the plane and nearly 100 pieces of luggage revealed nothing hazardous.

Flight 321 to Palm Beach was carrying approximately 135 passengers when it returned to the gate shortly after 9 p.m. The flight was cancelled and the passengers were taken off the plane; they will be rebooked by the airline.

Information known by law enforcement prior to the search suggested the threat was not credible. The aircraft was nonetheless carefully examined per security protocols. In order to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation into the source of the threat, no further information about the nature of the threat will be released.
