Massachusetts State Police Release – 11042014 – Man Arrested in New Bedford after Armed Robbery in North Adams

Today at approximately 4:45 a.m., the State Police Detective Unit assigned to Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office arrested GERALDO A. MARTELL, 25, of New Bedford, for the September 20, 2014 armed robbery at Cumberland Farms in North Adams.

The arrest is the result of coordinated efforts of the State Police Detective Unit assigned to Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office, State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (VFAS), State Police Crime Scene Services Section (CSSS), North Adams Police and New Bedford Police.

This morning, members of the State Police Special Tactical Operations (STOP) Team made entry into a residence in New Bedford, where MARTELL was taken into custody without incident.

Assisting members of the Berkshire State Police Detective Unit in New Bedford this morning were troopers assigned to the Bristol County State Police Detective Unit, State Police Crime Scene Services Section, officers from the New Bedford Police Department, and New Bedford EMS Department.

GERALD A. MARTELL was charged with the following offense; Armed Robbery while Masked.

MARTELL is scheduled to appear in North Adams District Court today.
