Massachusetts State Police Media Release– 08242014– Female Operator Dies In Single Vehicle Crash On Rt 3 in Duxbury

Today at 2:55 p.m. troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Barracks in Norwell responded to a report of a one car crash on Route 3 southbound between exits 10 and 11 in Duxbury. The vehicle and the surrounding brush along the highway were on fire after the crash. Duxbury Fire Department was dispatched to the scene as well.
The initial reports from the scene indicate that the vehicle involved in this crash was occupied by a lone 34 year old female operator. Emergency responders discovered the operator and determined her deceased at the scene.
Troopers from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section along with troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Section responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.
The two travel lanes of Route 3 southbound were closed during the initial extinguishing of the fire and the subsequent investigation of this crash.
Currently one travel lane and the breakdown lane are open to traffic. The second travel lane remains closed.
There are no other details available in this matter at this time. This release will be updated as information becomes available. The identification of the deceased will not be released until the appropriate next of kin notifications have been made.
