While working in the city of Chelsea last week, members of the Metro-Boston Gang Unit approached two known gang members in a high-crime area. As they approached, Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit troopers and Chelsea officers noticed one of the men had a firearm secreted in his waistband. Unit members took control of the gun, a .22 caliber Jennings loaded with six rounds, and placed the suspect in custody. The man, identified as GERBER VASQUEZ, 24, of Chelsea, did not have a license to carry a firearm. VASQUEZ was booked at the Chelsea Police Department.
