Massachusetts State Police Media Release – 07272014 – State Police Investigate Fatal Crash in Hingham
This morning at approximately 1:12 a.m., troopers from the Norwell Barracks responded to reports of a one-vehicle crash on Route 3 Northbound, north of Exit 15 in Hingham. Initial reports reported that, for reasons still under investigation, a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee lost control and rolled over.
The operator and lone occupant of the vehicle, a 31-year-old male from Hanover was determined to be deceased as a result of injuries sustained from the crash.
The left lane was closed during the crash investigation. No traffic backup was reported. The scene was clear at 3:40 a.m. The name of the deceased will be released later, after next-of-kin have been notified.
The remaining facts and circumstances of the crash are currently under investigation by troopers from the State Police Norwell Barracks. State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section (CARS), State Police Crime Scene Services Section (CSSS), Hingham Police Department, Hingham Fire/EMS Departments, State Medical Examiner’s Office, and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.
