Massachusetts State Police Media Release – 07102014 – State Police Investigate Fatal Motorcycle Crash in New Bedford


Last evening at approximately 9:57 p.m., troopers from the Dartmouth Barracks responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash, involving a motorcycle, on Route 140 Northbound at the 5.6 mile-marker in New Bedford.  Initial reports reported that the operator of the motorcycle, a 2005 Suzuki GSX130, for reasons under investigation, lost control and crashed into the wood line.


The motorcycle operator, RYAN E. LEVANGIE, 29, of Onset was determined to be deceased at the scene, as a result of injuries sustained from the crash.


The remaining facts and circumstances are currently under investigation by troopers from the Dartmouth Barracks.  State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section (CARS), State Police Crime Scene Services Section (CSSS), State Police Troop D Community Action Team (D-CAT), New Bedford Police Department, New Bedford Fire & EMS Department and the State Medical Examiner’s Office assisted with this scene.
