Massachusetts State Police Release – 06012014 – State Police Arrest two on Drug Conspiracy in Chicopee

On Saturday May 31, 2014 at approximately 1:35 a.m., Trooper Corey Choruzek and Trooper Mark Weiner of the Springfield Barracks, were stationary on I-391 southbound in the city of Chicopee conducting speed enforcement.  Subsequently, they stopped a Lincoln for traveling above the posted speed limit of 55.

During the traffic stop, several bundles of heroin were located, as well as bags of marijuana, both believed to be for distribution.  There was also a sum of U.S. currency believed to be from the sales of narcotics.

The driver was identified as EDWIN M. ANDINO, 24, of Springfield.  The passenger was identified as ANTHONY S. PIZARRO, 22, also of Springfield.  After an investigation, both ANDINO and PIZARRO were placed under arrest and brought to the Springfield Barracks for booking.  PIZARRO was held on $15,000 bail and ANDINO was held on $5,000 bail and brought to the Hampshire County Regional Lockup pending their transportation to Springfield District Court this morning.

EDWIN M. ANDINO will be arraigned on the following offenses:

  1. Possession of a Class A Substance with intent to distribute (Heroin)
  2. Conspiracy to violate drug law
  3. Speeding

ANTHONY S. PIZARRO will be arraigned on the following offenses:

  1. Possession of a Class A Substance, subsequent offense
  2. Conspiracy to violate drug law
