Massachusetts State Police Release — 04272014 — State Police Arrest 5 who were in Stolen Car

Massachusetts State Police arrested three men and two teenagers from Springfield early this morning after determining the five were occupants of a stolen car that fled from a trooper on Route 291.

Just after 2 a.m., State Police Sgt. William Loiselle observed a black 1994 Honda Accord, which had been reported stolen in Springfield yesterday, operating on Route 291 westbound in Chicopee. Sgt. Loiselle, who is a member of the Troop B Community Action Team, attempted to pull over the Accord, but the suspect vehicle refused to stop and left the highway at Exit 6. Troop B Headquarters initiated a pursuit. The Accord turned onto Shawinigan Drive in Ludlow.

Sgt. Loiselle and Ludlow Police officers located the vehicle abandoned in the area of Shawinigan Drive and observed the five suspects who had occupied it nearby. They were taken into custody and are identified as follows.

JOEL AYALA, 20, of Springfield; NATHAN CRUZ, 18, of Springfield; MIGUEL FUENTES, 20, of Springfield; and a 16-year-old male from Springfield, were each charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle, disturbing the peace, and trespassing. Also arrested was a 17-year-old male from Springfield, who was charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle and disturbing the peace.
