At 10:00 a.m. troopers from H Troop, covering Boston and surrounding areas, stopped a Nissan Quest on Route 93 northbound in Canton for motor vehicle violations.
After speaking with the operator a request for a K9 trooper was made. Upon arrival of the K9 trooper, the operator of the van vaulted over the guardrail and down a steep, rocky-embankment. The operator, HECTOR RIVERA MARTINEZ, 40, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin was taken into custody a short time later.
The State Police K9 located four, separately-packaged bundles of cocaine hidden in the van. MARTINEZ was taken into custody and charged with trafficking in a Class B(cocaine)substance. He is currently being held on $200,000 dollars bail. MARTINEZ is expected to appear in court on Monday for his arraignment.
We have no further information at this time. Please do not call the barracks directly.
