Today at around 4:15 p.m. the Lawrence Police initiated a motor vehicle pursuit of a vehicle being operated by a suspect wanted for narcotic violations.  The pursuit eventually entered Route 495 Northbound.  The vehicle was operating on two working tires and traveling at approximately 50 MPH.

The Massachusetts State Police became involved in the pursuit on Route 495 northbound in the area of exit 47 in Lawrence.

State Police pursued the vehicle northbound on Route 495 for approximately 2 miles.  During this time the suspect vehicle made contact with the pursuing State Police cruiser.

The suspect vehicle exited Route 495 northbound at River Street in Haverhill.  At that time out of an abundance of caution for public safety,  the State Police terminated their  pursuit of the suspect vehicle.

The suspect vehicle was eventually stopped in Plaistow, New Hampshire and a suspect was taken in to custody.

The Massachusetts State Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the contact by the suspect vehicle with the State Police Cruiser.

The Massachusetts State Police operated in an assist role  to the Lawrence Police Department during this pursuit.  All case specific information will come from the Lawrence Police Department.
