Woman Charged with OUI After Striking Cruiser on Pike

Massachusetts State Police Release–02112014 OUI Arrest After Cruiser Struck on Pike

Trooper Mark Lombardi, whose cruiser was struck by a suspected drunk driver on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Boston last night, was treated at Boston Medical Center and released. The driver who struck his cruiser, ANN LYN KING, 45, of Worcester, was charged with operating under the influence of liquor and several motor vehicle violations.

Trooper Lombardi was inside his marked 2013 Ford Interceptor sport utility cruiser when it was struck from behind by 2012 Kia Sorrento operated by KING shortly before 10:30 p.m. The force of the crash caused KING’s vehicle to roll over onto its side. The trooper called the Weston Barracks himself to report the crash and request EMS. At the time of the crash, the trooper was in position to protect a maintenance crew performing light pole inspections on the Turnpike in Brighton, just over the Newton line.

Following an investigation, KING was charged with the following offenses:

  1. OUI Liquor;
  2. Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle;
  3. Massachusetts Turnpike Passing Violation;
  4. Failure to Obey Massachusetts Turnpike Sign; and
  5. Negligent Operation in a Massachusetts Turnpike Construction Zone.

KING was expected to be arraigned today in the Brighton Division of the Boston Municipal Court. No further information is being released at this time.
