Massachusetts State Police Release – 11102013 – State Police Arrest Hatfield Man After Assaulting Hatfield Police Officer with Rifle

Today at approximately 5:20 p.m., Troopers from the State Police Northampton Barracks were requested to 8 Circle Drive in Hatfield to assist a Hatfield Police Officer.  Upon arrival, the troopers were advised by Hatfield Police that they had responded to the residence after a complaint was received about hearing gunfire from the home.

When the Hatfield Officer arrived, a man exited the home, later identified as TODD DOSTAL, 31, of Hatfield.  DOSTAL pointed a rifle at the officer and told the officer to leave the property.  DOSTAL then went back inside the residence.

Troopers set up a perimeter and requested the State Police Special Tactical and Operations (STOP) and K-9.  DOSTAL then exited the home, unarmed and was taken into custody.  A total of 5 firearms, 2 pistols and 3 rifles, were taken from the home.

TODD DOSTAL will be charged with the following offenses:

1)     Assault with a dangerous weapon

2)     Resisting arrest

3)     Intimidation of a witness

4)     Improper storage of a firearm

5)     Possession of a firearm while intoxicated
