Massachusetts State Police Media Release – 110913 – Two Vehicle Crash in Stoneham Results in Serious Injury to Operator   

Today at approximately 8:15 a.m., troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Barracks in Medford responded to Rt.28 at South St. in Stoneham on the report of a two vehicle crash.  Initial investigation by Trooper Loughran revealed multiple witnesses who reported that a 36 year-old male from Weymouth, MA may have failed to stop for a red light, striking a vehicle in the intersection operated by a 38 year-old female from Melrose.  The vehicle operated by the female then struck a fence adjacent to the roadway.  The female operator was extricated by the Stoneham Fire Department and subsequently transported by Stoneham EMS to Massachusetts General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.  The investigation is currently ongoing by Trooper Loughran with the assistance of troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section.
