Massachusetts State Police Media Release–11-08-2013—State Police Respond to Fatal Crashes overnight in Haverhill and New Bedford
This morning at 1:25 a.m. Troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Barracks in Newbury received a report of a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle on Route 495 northbound in the area of exit 51 in Haverhill.
Troopers arrived along with members of the Haverhill Fire Department/EMS. A Paramedic from the Fire Department determined the victim to be deceased on scene.
Troopers from the Massachusetts Crime Scene Service Section responded to assist with the investigation.
Route 495 northbound was shut down in the area of exit 51. Mass. DOT responded to the scene with arrow boards to assist in redirecting traffic around the scene during the investigation.
The deceased has been identified as Nicholas Nadeau, 24 of Kingston, NH.
The facts and circumstances surrounding this incident are currently under investigation by Trooper Scott Campbell from the State Police Barracks in Newbury.
In a separate incident this morning at 3:25 a.m. , Troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Barracks in Dartmouth responded to the report of a two vehicle crash on Route 140 northbound, north of exit 5 in New Bedford. Troopers arrived along with members of the New Bedford Fire/EMS and discovered that one of the people involved in this crash was deceased at the scene.
Troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section (C.A.R.S.) and Crime Scene Service Section (C.S.S.S.) and State Police Detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office responded to the scene to assist in this investigation.
All case specific information related to this case will be released by the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
