Massachusetts State Police Press Release–08-05-2013—State Police Investigate Head On Crash on Sagamore Bridge
On Sunday August 4, 2013 at 11:18 p.m. troopers from the Massachusetts State Police barracks in Bourne responded to a reported head on collision on route 6 Eastbound, on the Sagamore Bridge in Bourne. Members of the Bourne Fire Department EMS responded to the scene as well.
The crash involved a 2013 GMC SUV operated by DOROTHY R. HITCHCOCK, 25 of Provincetown. HITCHCOCK sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Jordan Hospital for treatment.
The second vehicle involved was a 2012 Buick SUV operated by Carmen Whalen, 48 of Williamstown. This vehicle had three additional occupants two of which are Carmen Whalen’s young children.
The adult passenger of the vehicle is identified as JANICE E. LOUX, 54 or Williamstown. All of the occupants of this vehicle were transported by ambulance from the scene to Cape Cod Hospital for precautionary evaluation.
The investigation of this crash by Trooper Brandyn Heson of the State Police Barracks in Bourne, has revealed that HITCHCOCK was Operating Under the Influence of Liquor and Drugs.
HITCHCOCK will receive a criminal summons to the Falmouth District Court for the following:
1. Operating Under the Influence of Drugs
2. Operating Under the Influence of Liquor
3. Possession of Class B
4. Possession of Class E ( 2 counts)
5. Negligent Operation of Motor Vehicle
6. Marked Lanes Violation
7. Seat Belt Violation
Traffic on the Sagamore Bridge was closed to all traffic for approximately two hours while the emergency responders worked the scene and conducted an investigation.
