On Monday, 8/19/2013 at approximately 1:00 p.m., Trooper Scott Shea, who is assigned to the State Police Sturbridge Barracks, was on patrol in the town of Webster. While driving down East Main Street he observed a woman walking with a young child, waving her arms in an effort to get his attention. While this was happening, Trooper Shea observed a male subject run from the woman’s location, enter a pickup truck and drive away.
Trooper Shea then spoke to the female, a 22 year old Webster resident. She reported that the male subject that was running away, had just grabbed her breast as she walked by him, pulling her shirt down and exposing her.
Trooper Shea then requested assistance in checking the area for this suspect. Webster Police and Trooper Amy Waterman, who is assigned to the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (VFAS) assisted in searching the area. They did not locate the subject that fled the area in the pickup truck.
Trooper Shea continued the investigation, with the assistance of Webster Police and Sergeant Danial Wildgrube, who is assigned to the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit. Through their investigative efforts, they were able to locate the pickup truck that the suspect fled from, eventually locating the driver of the pickup. The suspect, now identified as DAVID J. TAYLOR Jr., 29, of Dudley, was placed in custody for the assault and battery. TAYLOR was charged with the following offenses:
1. Indecent Assault & Battery on a Person 14 or Over
2. Disorderly Conduct
TAYLOR was scheduled for arraignment in Dudley District Court. No further information is available and no update is expected. Please do not call the Barracks directly.
