Massachusetts State Police Release—04092013—Trooper and Hull Police Capture Home Invasion Suspect

Monday evening at 5:45 p.m. the Hull Police Department requested assistance from the Massachusetts State Police at the scene of a home invasion at 74 Kingsley Road in Hull.  Trooper Gregg Spooner from the State Police Barracks in Norwell responded to the scene and joined the Hull officers in a search for the suspect who had fled on foot from the scene.

During the search, a Hull Police Sergeant observed the suspect running ahead of the searching officers.  Trooper Spooner returned to his cruiser and moved forward of the area where the fleeing suspected had been observed.

Trooper Spooner discovered the suspect in the area of Sumner and Waltham Streets.  Trooper Spooner resumed the foot pursuit of the suspect through the yard of a home on Waltham St.  During the foot pursuit Trooper Spooner observed the suspect discard an item inside a dog house in the backyard of the Waltham St. residence.

Trooper Spooner continued to pursue the suspect onto Kingsley Road.  The suspect attempted to enter the basement of a home on Kingsley Rd. however Trooper Spooner was able to capture the suspect and place him in custody.  Trooper Spooner was joined by Hull officers and the suspect was turned over to the Hull officers for further investigation.

A search of the dog house at the home on Waltham St revealed a loaded Beretta 9-millimeter handgun. The weapon seized by the Hull Police as part of their investigation.

The suspect in this case was identified as BRIAN P. MICHAELS, 44, of Hull.

MICHAELS was charged with the following:

1.     Assault and Battery/Domestic Abuse

2.     Armed Assault in a Dwelling

3.     Carrying a Firearm Without a License

4.     Breaking and Entering in Daytime to Commit a Felony (2 counts)

5.     Resisting Arrest

6.     Vandalizing Property

7.     Possession Class B  Subsequent Offense

8.     Possession of a Firearm, While Committing Felony

9.     Unlawful Possession of Ammunition

10.     Assault and Battery Dangerous Weapon on a Pregnant Person

11.     Threat to Commit Crime ( Murder)

The Hull Police Department is the lead investigating agency in this case and all case specific information must be released by them.  There were no reported injuries sustained by the suspect or any officer during this pursuit and arrest.  Please do not call the barracks directly.
