Massachusetts State Police Release–032013–State Police Arrest 2 Men in Worcester
Today, at approximately 1:45 a.m., Trooper Ryan Walczak, assigned to the State Police Barracks in Holden, was on patrol on Route 290 eastbound just prior to Exit 17 in Worcester when he observed a gray Kia Optima operating with a failed inspection sticker. Trooper Walczak activated his emergency lights and stopped the vehicle. As the vehicle was coming to a stop, Trooper Walczak observed the rear passenger seat occupant, later identified as, DAVID ZEE BOTTOM, 30, of Worcester, moving around inside the vehicle.
Trooper Walczak asked BOTTOM to exit and step to the rear of the vehicle. Trooper Walcsak observed BOTTOM to be very nervous. BOTTOM told Trooper Walczak that he was nervous because he had a warrant and that he had placed an ice pick in the rear pocket of the front passenger seat.
Trooper Walczak requested and received assistance from Troopers Erin McLaughlin and Christopher Martin of the Holden Barracks and MSP K-9 Section Trooper Jeffery Johnson.
Five occupants were inside the vehicle. During the stop, the front passenger, later identified as KEVIN PARKER, 21, of Worcester, attempted to flee on foot. Trooper Johnson and his K-9 Alex tracked PARKER to the third floor of 73 East Central Street. PARKER was located hiding in a storage closet.
Both parties were placed under arrest and transported to the State Police Barracks in Holden where they were booked, charged, and held pending arraignment at Worcester District Court.

2. Carry a Dangerous Weapon 269-10B.
