Massachusetts State Police Release–12192012–Trooper Assaulted During Motor Vehicle Stop in Lynn
Today, at 3:30 PM, a State Trooper stopped a Hyundai Santa Fe on Commercial Street in the area of the Lynnway in the City of Lynn for suspected narcotics violations. During the encounter, the suspect attempted to rundown the trooper, knocking him to the ground. The suspect was identified as Luis Rosario, 26, of Dorchester.
At this time, a pursuit ensued involving State Troopers and officers from the Lynn Police Department on various streets in the City of Lynn. During the pursuit, the Hyundai rammed two State Police cruisers. At the intersection of Boston and Franklin Streets, the Hyundai crashed into a Mazda 3 sedan and a Honda Accord.
A Good- Samaritan exited his Pontiac Montana minivan and attempted to render aid to the operator of the Mazda. Rosario fled on foot and entered the Good-Samaritan’s minivan. During the confrontation at the intersection of Boston and Franklin Streets, a State Trooper discharged his service weapon, striking Rosario. Rosario fled the scene in the minivan and drove to Atkinson Street where he exited the minivan and fled on foot. Rosario was then apprehended by members of the Lynn Police Department on Cliff Street. He was transported to Salem Hospital.
