State Police Seek People Who May Have Seen Girl in Watertown; Nature of Incident Still Under Investigation

Massachusetts State Police Release — 02022018 — State Police Seek People Who May Have Seen Girl in Watertown; Nature of Incident Still Under Investigation

The State Police continue to investigate a possible attempted abduction in Watertown to determine whether it was an actual attempted abduction. The girl was not harmed. We are working to determine the exact nature of what occurred.

To further our investigation, we would like to speak to anyone who saw a 12-year-old girl on the Riverwalk in Watertown near the waterfall, roughly between 4:30-5 pm. We also would like to speak to anyone who works in the area and may have been leaving their job around that time.

We would also like to speak to a person whom we believe may have observed the girl and interacted with her. That person is described as a young adult male, approximately 6 feet tall with a thin build and dirty blond hair, who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and some type of white scarf or fabric near his mouth. That person was walking a medium-sized white dog with dirty fur when he may have seen the girl.

Please note that the purpose of speaking to these people is solely to gather information at this time. Investigators have not yet determined whether a crime occurred.

Anyone with information to share, including those described above, are asked to call the State Police Troop H Detective Unit at 617-740-7817.
