After an intensive two-day investigation by state and local police, the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section and the Boston Police Department arrested CHARLES DIXON, 32, the suspect sought since Tuesday for a domestic assault in Beverly.
Troopers and officers located and apprehended DIXON on Dudley Street in Boston at approximately 9:45 pm Thursday after a short foot pursuit.
On Thursday the State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section and Beverly Police developed information suggesting DIXON may be in Boston, leading to the joint effort that resulted in his arrest last night.
DIXON was charged earlier this week with a domestic assault in Beverly but fled on Tuesday when notified he faced a dangerousness hearing in Salem District Court. On Wednesday night a report that DIXON may be in a wooded area near Hillcrest Drive in Beverly prompted a joint search by Beverly and State Police patrols and tactical units and a lockdown of Beverly Hospital. But the suspect was not found at that time and the MSP’s fugitive arrest team joined the investigation to assist local police.
Following his arrest last night DIXON was booked at Boston Police Area B-2. He faces charges of domestic assault, threats to commit a crime, and witness intimidation.
