Massachusetts State Police Release–05-21-2013– School Bus Strikes Pedestrian on Route I 290 Westbound in Worcester

Today at 1:38 p.m. the Massachusetts State Police from the barracks in Holden responded to a reported crash on Route I 290 Westbound in the area of Exit 18 ( Lincoln Square) in the city of Worcester.
The crash involved a School Bus and a pedestrian. Worcester EMS responded to the scene and transported the injured pedestrian to UMass Medical Center University Campus for an unspecified head injury. Troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstructions Section (CARS) and Crime Scene Service Section (CSSS) are assisting in the investigation.
This is an active scene and traffic has backed up on the Westbound side of RT I 290 from the crash scene back to the Plantation Street Exit.

The 24 year old male pedestrian involved a collision with a School Bus on route I 290 Westbound in the city of Worcester this afternoon has died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
The name of the deceased will be released tomorrow morning once the proper notifications are made.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation by Trooper Dana Oliver of the State Police barracks in Holden along with members of CARS and CSSS.
